Corporate Membership

Split into 25 Wards, the ancient City of London is a very special place. Many companies feel it is important to take a more active part in their local communities and to encourage their employees to do so too. Be that becoming involved more in the charitable aspects of the City, developing their business contacts, taking part in the non-party political elections of the Wards’ Aldermen and Common Councilmen, or discovering the hidden secrets of the City through ‘money can’t buy’ visits and insights.

The Aldgate Ward Club (AWC) has been in existence since 1906 and today it is a modern social and business networking club. Our Patron is the Ward’s sitting Alderwoman, Sue Langley, the Chair of the insurer A J Gallagher Holdings (UK) Limited. A previous Patron, Alderman Sir Clive Martin, was Lord Mayor in 1999-2000.

Becoming a Corporate Member of the AWC allows you and your employees to meet and network with local businesses, to meet people from different professions and walks of life and take a more influential role in the City – as our motto says, we are “Open to All”.

The Club puts together an annual programme of business, civic and social events for the members, with the highlight being the formal Annual Civic Lunch which is held in the Crypts of the ancient Guildhall and usually has one of the City’s Sheriffs as the keynote speaker. This lunch is a splendid way to entertain clients and reward staff with something special.

There could also be an opportunity for Corporate Members to host a club event. The Ward’s Common Councilmen, who are involved in running the City’s local government, often attend events.

The Club offers three tiers of annual Corporate Membership: Gold, Silver and Bronze. Each Corporate Member will have your hyper-linked logo on our website and all official publications. Each level gives a certain number of annual memberships and tickets to the Civic Lunch, and for Gold members there will also be a special mention at the Civic Lunch.

Gold    – £750     3 Club Memberships (Company nominees) and 3 tickets for The Civic Lunch

Silver   – £500     2 Club Memberships (Company nominees) and 2 tickets for The Civic Lunch

Bronze – £250  1 Club Membership (Company Nominee) and 1 ticket for The Civic Lunch

Corporate Members nominees attendance at all other events will be on the usual club members’ terms and additional tickets for the Civic Lunch are available at the price applicable to all members. Please contact the Hon Secretary at
